Successful despite cost pressure on raw materials

With a sales increase of 4.9% to EUR 795.9 million, HARTMANN continued its growth in the first six months of 2010 despite a difficult market environment. With a 5.2% sales growth, the three medical core segments particularly contributed to the overall increase. In the Wound Management segment, sales revenues were EUR 218.1 million as at June 30, 2010, an increase of 5.6%. This growth resulted mainly from sales with post-operative dressings and the pharmacy range of first-aid products.

In the Incontinence Management segment, sales revenues rose by 5.4% to EUR 291.9 million compared to the previous year. Product systems worn on the body were particularly well received by customers. In the Infection Management segment, HARTMANN benefited from sales growth in custom procedure trays, with the highest growth rate coming from disposable instruments. Overall segment sales rose by 4.1% to EUR 165.2 million. The share of the medical core segments in total sales continued at 84.8% as at June 30, 2010.
