At Techtextil, Schmitz Textiles GmbH + Co KG from Emsdetten, Germany, presented a new convertible top fabric with high fitting accuracy called mobiltex 388. The product has significantly fewer white marks, creases, crow's feet, thread shifts and sink marks than comparable fabrics on the market. "Even with frequent use of the convertible top, the fabric must fit perfectly on the substructure. This is the case with mobiltex 388. Extremely good resilience ensures a permanently high fit on the supporting structure," says Torsten Weißhaar, Sales Manager Automotive at mobiltex.
As with the company's other brands, the development of individual variants and production takes place at the Emsdetten site. Smaller quantities for special editions can also be produced here. This creates a variety of designs.

"Our new development also creates economic opportunities for the automotive industry," says Weißhaar. Special measures such as pleat-throwers or pads become superfluous, and process times are reduced. In addition, batch sizes and lead times can be optimized, and further potential savings can be achieved through width optimization. In addition, the manufacturer contributes to sustainability by making the material recyclable.

For this reason, the new convertible top fabric mobiltex 388 received the German Innovation Award 2019 in the category "Excellence in Business to Business - Materials & Surfaces".
