In the future, the latest developments from science and industry will be presented to Aacheners on three levels in the Citizen Service at the Katschhof.

ITA presents 4D textiles
The Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University, short ITA, is proud to be the first to present the topic of 4D textiles in the technology showcase. These are materials with intelligent properties. "They change their shape independently or through external influences. This not only makes it possible to produce new types of clothing, but also makes new products possible in an industrial environment," explains David Schmelzeisen from the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University. ITA Director Professor Dr Thomas Gries and his team had already invented and successfully patented the new hybrid material 4D-Textil in 2016.
